Armed with a bit of knowledge about what Twitter is all about, share your thoughts on this fast growing online phenomenon.

I see Twitter as just another form of a blog, except in a shortened version. Personally I find Twitter to be uninteresting. Rather than following those you know online, wouldn't it be better to talk to them in person? It seems as if Twitter has become a popular phenomenon simply bacause of the growing trend of using technology, namley the internet, as the primary form of communication.

Do you see any practical applications for LibraryThing either at home or at work? Will you start using this site?

Library Thing is a very practical tool for anyone. I would find it useful to use at home or work. I like how it recommends other books based on what you have already read, that's something I would like to use when trying to find new books to read. At work, it would be practical to show customers the site so that they can read book reviews or find similar books by authors they like.

Do you see yourself using these tools or will you stick to more traditional methods. If you were to use one of these tools regularly, which would it b

I could see myself perhaps using Google Docs for school purposes or just to upload documents that I would want to open elsewhere. It seems quite convenient to have the documents saved online and accessible anywhere. But for the most part I think I would generally stick to traditional methods instead.

Comment on Flickr and YouTube. Were they user-friendly?

I find YouTube to be very user-friendly and it provides a quick and easy method of searching for information on the net. There are instructional videos to music videos, just tons of different subjects that can be searched for in a matter of minutes.
Flickr was fairly user-friendly as well. I was able to find pictures of my topic of interest and got the same results as the posted pictures by others. I would use flickr for photo sharing.

Were you able to successfully set up your RSS feed? If not, where did you run into problems? If you were successful, does this make information-gather

I was successful in setting up the RSS feed. I found it fairly simple to create and use. However some of the sites I suscribed to were inconsistent in updating feeds. But for the most part they showed the information I was looking for. I find it does make it a bit easier to bundle the information all together in one system.

What do you like about the Google product? What do you dislike? Would you recommend the product to friends and colleagues?

I love using google as my main search engine source and was suprised to see all the different products they had. The one I chose to use was the Google Translator tool. Thinking in terms of customer service, I thought it would be useful to play around with this in case I would ever come across a situation in which a translation would be needed. I found the translate product to work very well in that it would for the most part accurately translate the word or phrase I needed. The only problem I came across was trying to type all the different punctuations on letters needed for languages other than english. Other than that, the program worked well for its intended purpose and I would definitely recommend the use of this product to my colleagues and friends.
I was also intrigued by the Google SketchUp program, but had difficulties downloading the program so I was not able to test it out.

For you, is Facebook useful or a time-waster?

Facebook for me is definitely both useful and a time-waster. It is convienient to use to keep up with old and new friends when life gets to busy. I like being able to catch a glimpse of what is going on in other people's lives that you may not have seen for a long time. Also it is great for staying in touch with family, mostly my cousins, whom I don't get to see very often.

As good as facebook can be in keeping in touch with others, it used to be a huge procrastination tool for me. Curiousity has gotten the best of me when I check my facebook and so I end up spending more time on facebook than I should. Lately, I have not felt an urge to use my facebok as often as I did when I first created my account.

How easy or difficult was it to find articles that needed editing? Were the errors you found factual or grammar / spelling?

I found it difficult to find articles that needed editing. The few articles that I found containing errors were mostly minor spelling errors.

What are the advantages of storing, sharing, and tagging web content this way? What are the disadvantages?

It is quite efficient to have all your bookmarks organized by keyword tags and accessible from any computer. Also it is nice to see what others have tagged and what they find interesting that you may never have known about. However delicious still does not seem to be as user friendly as it could be. There seems to be too much going on for each page, which makes it somewhat difficult to use and perhaps less appealing to those who are just starting to learn about the different technological tools the internet has to offer.

A Journey Begins

Sharing my opinions and thoughts in such a public forum is a new concept to me. Blogs have never crossed my mind as something I would usually utilize when it comes to the internet. Although I am apprehensive about blogging and what it entails, I'm excited to broaden my technological knowledge and perhaps even take a liking to the blogging world, and so it begins!
